Andrea Doria, why aren't you firing? There's still a couple of enemy cruisers we could sink...
... Oh. I don't recall seeing an "Andrea Doria is out of main battery ammunition" message... Well, none of the rest of my ships are completely out, yet, so, uh, stay in the battle line and look intimidating?

Why not just detatch her?

Why not just detatch her? Because she can still catch shells, and anyways none of the other ships had all that much ammunition left at the time - I think the most was about 100 12" shells on one of the predreadnoughts, but most of the capital ships had 50 or fewer main battery shells, approximately 0 8" (fleet came home with 23 8" shells remaining, all on a single semidreadnought - perhaps oddly, that battleship was also the battleship next-closest to running out of main battery ammunition, with only four 12" shells remaining, all for its after turret, when it returned to port) and 20% 6" secondary ammuntion, and not a single shell for a 4" tertiary gun in the entire fleet.

Even if my ship loose all turrets I let her in battleline. It can help to absorb damage. If you detach one ship of the line the rest ships still available fight get more hits.

So you lose one ship instead of another. Unless she was massively outdated, what difference does it make?

Comrades! Our Revolution is complete, we have deposed the Kaiser, and ... ... we have installed Comrade Kaiser in his place. Having the enemy split fire between two ships rather than allowing them to concentrate on one can save both.

Clearly intended to be humorous, but I don't think I've noticed this particular event text before: Yes, we'd like some baguettes ... oh, a 7" gun? Uh, sure, we'll take that, too...

You are expect to pay and thanks French gentlemen. They will add you free design for next capital ship with 7" secondary guns as bonus.

So I don't know if this is hilarious or awesome or both, but I really like the CLAA concept for crusiers so I built a small class that completed its run just before war kicked off. Its 1942 and I am at war with the UK, Austria-Hungary, and German wile playing as Italy. I have a crusier with something like 14 twin 6in guns in DP mounts, 10 4 in DP mounts, a search radar and 6 torpedo tubes. during this night action Land based search aircraft report the position of a enemy cruiser and I send my ship to go investigate, what it found was actually Austria-hungarys last remaining battle cruiser and escorts. Noting that I am out gunned turn away an lose visual contact. However some minutes later the ships primitive search radar detects the enemy battle line 9000 yards away. My cruiser, knowing the position only through radar data, fired a torpedo, and struck home doing massive flooding damage to the very outdated battlecruiser. This stricken vessel was later finished off by land based dive bombers, netting me a major victory and turning the tables on the forces arrayed against me. I was stunned to say the least.

The one I saw yesterday was the visiting ship event from Britain. The neutral option is "It's a fine ship, but I wonder if it has some hidden flaws".

You know you are having a bad day when not only does your airship base's steering get knocked out, but it is also starting to leak. Good thing the soviets had bombs of soviet quality.

I wonder if the jammed rudder cause the base to go round in circles.

You got it wrong: the game is trying to tell you that the soviet bombs had ruptured the piping on the base's bathrooms and warning about the resulting pestilent mess. Which is obviously highly damaging to morale and fighting spirit within the base.
