I have not had a scouting force in any battle (fleet battles and raids) with my 1900 start US and Italy saves. I have the research but my battlecruisers have always been with my main force.

I am pretty certain it works, but it depends on type of battle and how many ships you have available for battle.

I have not had a scouting force in any battle (fleet battles and raids) with my 1900 start US and Italy saves. I have the research but my battlecruisers have always been with my main force. I've had the same experience - I believe it was an early post from me in the bugs thread. It's now June of 1935 and I still haven't had a battle with a scouting force, and I've had at least two battles (probably 3-4) with both BB and significant numbers of BC (2-3) since I got the tech. The BCs are independent and placed in front of the main body as if they're a scouting force, but they're computer controlled and in the same force. I'm playing UK, large (I think) fleets, turned on Admiral during first battle when I realized it was off, and built my own legacy fleet. I realized after my original post that in the early battles where I wasn't seeing a scouting force that I only had one BC showing up, and thought that might be causing the effect, but like I said I've now had several battles that in RTW1 would have resulted in a scouting force without it being created. Did something change in the requirements? I've played RTW1 for years (including for the last month or so ) and my experience here is definitely different. [EDIT] - here is the original post - it was 1909 and I had 2BC I'm attaching my current game. Unfortunately, since I now have CVs, I've stopped seeing configurations where I have both BB and BC showing up in a typical fleet battle, so it might be hard to reproduce. Hope it helps though. Note that I have an older file from a previous bug report that is probably from the 1900s or 1910s - I can (re-)upload that for you if you think it will help. Thanks! Just spawned a battle where it happened (same game, November 1935). Mid-Baltic, fighting Germany and Russia. It's a large raid on enemy shipping (objective = 2 ships for 12000 pts). Note the BC force in the lead, positioned as if it were a scouting force, but only a "Main Force" in the OOB.

I appreciate the 1.02 update as it fixed many of the issues that I saw. However has this issue been looked at yet? I still have not seen a scouting force in either of my 1900 starts, historical resources, saves in battles that would have had them in RTW1. Large number of capital ships with with battleships and battlecruisers before fast battleships or carriers were a thing. I unfortunately forgot to take a screenshot or save the game but the above picture is what I have been seeing.

I just want to report that this is still an issue in 1.03.

I can confirm there is something wrong. I just started a fleet battle with Germany vs. Russia and my 3 BCs were organized as an indenpendent Division to the Battle Fleet (2BB and 4B) instead of an Independent Scouting force. Further 2 of my 3 CL divisions are set to follow the BCs as CORE divisions (All my CLs are around 4000-4500t displacment). While I could easily change their roles to something appropriate I think it's another hint that something is not working as intended.
Date is February 1913, Version is 1.03 (but game started under 1.02), very large fleet and Manual legacy fleet. Edit: I attached a Screenshot and the save game for Review. If it helps Location is just off Gotland in the Baltic, I noticed the example posted by sloanjh is also in the Baltic vs Russia. Scouting Force is of course researched since ~3 years. In all Fleet Battles in RTW1 that had similar Timing / Force Composition I always had separate Main and Scouting Forces

I thought I'd had some scouting forces early on (1.02 or earlier), but in my current game running with 1.03, I don't think I have, come to think about it.
