It would be nice to radio / signal other ships what you, as the admiral want them to do. Instead of watching them doing nothing or coming under the computer control, often leaving the immediate battle area!. I love the game, but tend to play small actions for this reason. Also, would it be too much to ask, to be able to select ammunition types............ i.e. HE, SAP etc

The first request is reasonable and might be considered.
The second - probably no. The admirals of the time did not, and did not have the means to, micromanage ammunition choice by subordinate ships.

If you add the communications capability, will you not have to add the ability of the fleet commander to impose total radio communications silence before, during and possibly after the operation? Also, will you have to add additional radio intercept capability both land based and sea based? In my studies, most fleet commanders had a meeting prior to the start of the operation, then imposed the blackout to guard the operation. Messages were generally but not always, sent in a written format by a destroyer or something along those lines. Can you add the ability to give a message to a lighter ship, sail it about 25 miles out to 50 miles away from the main body, then allow it to transmit the message. Radio communications as we all know, is a double edged sword. It can improve command and control but also provide good intelligence to the enemy.

Thanks for the suggestions! Good idea, but it will likely add a lot of complexity.

Thanks for the suggestions! Good idea, but it will likely add a lot of complexity. Yes, it certainly will and I don't know if it will contribute much to the game, at least for RJW and the period leading up to the interwar period. After WW1, it is certainly necessary and TBS, talk between ships, would have to be added and that will certainly make the game more complex. Maybe this could be an add-on that could be purchased for a nominal fee. Just a few ideas. Thanks for reading them.
