It is very nice how the visual layout of guns changes on certain configurations, but think it should be "locked" after the ship is built. Here's an example of what I mean exactly:
I have a battleship with ABXY turrets. As such the AB turrets are close together, as opposed to ships with All forward armament, where they are spaced a little. I decide that ABXY is a good layout for my BB and draw superstructures based on it.
The ship is built. Then, many years later, I decide the BB is no longer pulling its weight and - like any sane person would do - decide to rebuild it into a hybrid BBCV. I remove the X and Y turrets in order to draw in a flying off deck and boom - turret B suddenly migrates to the top of the bridge superstructure. While it would be an ultimate pagoda mast, it just... Well, there's no reason for it. It would be great if the existing turret position would be locked during a rebuild, so removing the XY wouldn't suddenly move the B as well.
The only situation I can think of when you'd want exisitng turrets to migrate is wing turrets on CV conversion. Otherwise they should stay in place.
This is strictly a visual thing, but visual things really bug me.
