Error in Checksightings procedure

While fighting a fleet battle as Japan, I got the following error:

Error in Checksightings procedure - Reset sighting levels!
Ship: B Asahi

B Asahi is one of my ships. I am fighting a war with France in a fleet battle in Southeast Asia. The battle started in the evening, and it is currently 10 pm at night. The division that Asahi belongs to may or may not have entered port - I can't remember.

I don't think it matters, but I'm playing 1.08, 1900, Very Large Fleet Size, Varied Technologies, Manual Build of Legacy Fleet.
