On going from turn 0 to turn 1 for a fleet battle (many BB, BC, CV each side) the game reported no contact and ended the scenario.
Perhaps it was related to saving and restarting the game?
Last night was when the battle was generated. With such a large battle I wouldnt be able to play it at that time. So I saved on turn 0.
Starting the game today it was still on turn 0. I went through the air groups scheduling the readying of hundreds of planes and sending off the float plane recon from the BBs.
Saved game again after finishing that chore.
On ending the pause stat and getting to turn 1 got the game message of no contact. Normally this happens after a few hundred turns. The recon planes hadnt even been launched.
Task Manager closed game to reload to the save (done after cueing the air readiness).
Repeats the turn 1 no contact.
Post battle map reveals enemy ships to the side but certainly within the sweep I had planned for the recon planes.
Running on Win 10 Tablet. Game version 1.10. Playing UK non-historical funds at war with Germany. No mods.

Thanks for the report. We have a handle on that and a fix will be out shortly.

Angled Flight Deck was introduced at the end of RTW2 period, mostly in testing as the first carrier build with angled deck was commissioned in 1955. And another important point is that WW2 bas behind that, without WW2 there willl be probably no angled fligh deck so early.

I believe I have a zip of the game in question. Did it when I saved overnight in case of wierd wonky things the next day (like if I forgot to cue the planes to ready). File is too large to attach to this post.

Same turn 1 no contact scenario as:
Intercepting a raider
my Force 2 x 100 pt CV and 1 x DD them 1 x AMC
Prepped air groups with ready commands. Looking forward for ~140 attack planes to swarm a lone raider when...
turn 1, no contact, scenario over

Another repeat of turn 1 no contact battle over.
I did have a few small battles between the errors.
I did save the game and make a zip copy.
I wonder if its related to saving the game, exiting and relaunching. As if the time checker for the how much time between contact isnt being recorded.
Could also be connected to several 100s airplanes to manage as that may be consistent.
Still, you did say you were going to fix it. Advising on repeats until then.

Also occurred when one of my raiders was intercepted. Had a message it had tempermental engines. Battle ended immediately on turn 1 with no contact.

FYI,
It appears it is tied to the save-reload on turn 0.
I've been mindful of several fleet battles to avoid saving on turn 0 and just turn off the auto search planes for all groups. Hit space bar to run one clock tick. Then save. Don't always close the game so the reload doesn't happen. Have stopped having the crashes.
This behavior is consistent with an error on the how long since last seen.
Either way a forced refresh when at time 0 (or 0 to 1) to clear any old data should handle this.
Still I believe you are on top of it.

Definitely an issue with loading the game and not just turn 1
I had a fleet battle and did the following:
on turn 0 - told BB force to use no search - meant to tell CV not to use search but clicked wrong apparently - cycle to turn 1
on turn 1 - save game - launch floatplanes from BB etc - tell CVs to preapre fighers for recon
Ran the game for a few clock ticks so we are at about turn 10
Saw planes coming off the CVs which I hadnt ordered. Turned out I had misclicked stopping the auto search
Decided to task manager stop game and reload
Game loads on turn 1 Going onto turn 2 got the "no contact between fleets"
This is the same battle where I ran for several clock ticks without that message.
This is very much an issue with the saving and loading of data about the time since last contact.
