A few game questions please. Is it possibe to build minefields, I see the AI player has them. What is the formula for base size vs the # of ships it can support ? It`s a huge cash outlay to improve bases in overseas areas like North Eastern Asia. ( Dutch Harbor ) What does building " Colonial Service " into the ships buy you ? What`s the purpose of building " Forts ? Hugely expensive things. What does the ship types in the build screen like MS, TR , LT, and AV do, and why should I build them ? I assume ( xx) type is a placeholder for future use ? Am enjoying the game as much as the old Civ 1, 2 and 3.... a deep 3X game....IMHO TIA

1. Improving bases will roughly double port capacity.
2. Makes them more useful on foreign stations (counts as more tonnage).
3. Yes, they are expensive. Will be reduced in 1.1
4. You can build MS. The others are redundant. Read the player notes in the manual on tips what MS are good for.
Thanks!

MS: generally come in two types: Type 1 would be a 200 ts ship with maybe one 3 inch gun an 16 knots. inexpensive, fast to produce and ideal for coastal patrol during wartime to free your destroyers from this duty. Type 2 would have around 1000-1200 ts with maybe 5 inch guns and slow speed. this type serves as a Colonial gunboat, used to free your cruisers from duty on foreign station. see the players notes.
