Hi there,
got this message 2day after the Update to 1.13: Infected file found 2 minutes ago
Function: Virus protection
The file D:\NWS\Rule the waves 2\rtw2.exe is infected with Trojan.GenericKD.42101527 and has been quarantined.
We recommend that you perform a system scan to rule out further infections.
Has anyone got same news, or is my antivir just a piece of ***** Well contacted my Antivir-povider also.
Regards Nicolas

I guess that the activation method might look like a key generator to the antivirus heuristic, and key gens are generally shady. Obviously I think it was a false alarm since I whitelisted it.

Ok, i made all exeptions possible. It is working on drive c: If i install it at drive d: i get the error: You require authorizations to perform the operation.
Just the *.exe is not installing, the rest is in drive d:

Yes, those are false positives. Please note that all of the ones listed are either 'generic' or 'unsafe', i.e. 'heuristic' not actual detection of a virus signature. I have contacted all of those (several times, in previous releases as well) and sent them samples, but some of them do not update their exception lists very quickly/reliably, and indeed two of them never responded to my postings or email.
The anti-piracy protection engine we utilize has been used by dozens of major companies and a myriad of smaller ones for some years now, and thus is a fairly well-know system...the customization for each customer/project however may trigger some of the more sensitive heuristic engines for a very small minority of AV software. With every update/release the entire project is scanned with several local updated AV programs, and all executables (installer, game executable, etc) are uploaded to VirusTotal as well.

Its still very likely your AV engine. If you don't mind, please let me know what company it is and I will provide them with a sample and file an exception report with them (if I have not already).

I have submitted a sample RTW2 v1.13 to Bitdefender Labs (again...) - so hopefully they will un-blacklist it soon.

@ williammiller: Thx for your help. Mysterically everything worked today. No problems, still no update from bitdefender, I was also able to relocate my NWS-folder in my preferred drive without problems....
@oldpop: Thx for your help, but this wasn't my problem. I did this several times yesterday even with desktop-shortcuts. Suddenly I had issues with admin-rigths and wasn't able to copy the *.exe or create desktop-shortcuts. I think these issues came with some old reistry entries.

Dang it, I hate it when my seaplane carrier program gives false positives.

Yep, I can report Bitdefender being silly too. Had to go in and tell it restore the files.
