I'm not sure what these asterisk mean on the Map tab. Heck, I'm still a bit confused about when asterisks show up in general, the manual doesn't have the word asterisk listed (I looked!). Would someone elaborate on this issue?

An enemy raider was active in the area last turn. I admit that should have been in the manual. Not sure if it's useful info anyway.

In the ship log after hits, they mean penetrating hit (I.e. that the shell penetrated through the armour/side of the hull before exploding).

And rather than start a new thread and clutter up the board, I'll ask about these asterisks, err stars actually, on the ship platform image. I have some ships that have one or two, this one has four stars. Could that be battle stars, IE it fought in that many battles?

what do asterisks mean in the ship list? and what do they mean in the ship's log, after hits? regarding the ship list my guess is that it appears if the ship is stationed in an area without adequate base capacity. Nor problem in peacetime but it can lead to internment or scuttling in wartime. Guess it appears if the ship has some kind of problem (Engine/Fuel) and needs to make port. I had it with an AMC on the west african coast (USA Campaign). brought the ship back and after a turn in home Waters the star disappeared (guess they made port to replenish supplies and make minor repairs). Not exactly sure if this is correct, though.
