Has anyone asked if any developer consideration has been directed to allowing usage of Allied port facilities for Invasion purposes?
Example: As Japan in the mid-teens the French possession of Kwang-Chou-Wan is beyond invasion reach from Japanese held Formosa (or an American held Phillipines for that matter). If it were possible to use an Allies port and if allied with Great Britain, the Japanese player (or American in this example) could stage an invasion of Kwang-Chou-Wan from British held Hong Kong.
This would be another asset for having allies during wartime.

I think this would be a great idea, and have thought about it but not yet spoken it - well spoken Duck!

Perhaps thre then can be a chance that the possession gets captured by the ally instead (and of course a notification) or an increase in cost for staging such invasions.

An increase in costs makes a lot of sense. However, being a greedy sort of minister, I would not appreciate an ally taking an invasion target I had designs for but lies just beyond my reach.

No operation between two "true" allies would result in such an affair. The plans would clearly state whose forces would be taking what, and administration of the captured territory would be determined by this. Additionally, note that this proposal would be using an allies port as a staging area, there is no implication the ally would be contributing forces. Currently if them are non-democratic your ally could blitzkrieg someone to take territory, but otherwise allies cannot gain territory by invasion. That itself might be an interesting add, but a difficult one no doubt, and not one I will presently attempt to put on Fredrik's to-do list. :]

I'd love to see this. It would make me think twice about who I was allying with. Invasions are becoming an interesting mechanic with a lot of possibilities and added replay value. I'm intrigued to see it evolve.
