I've noticed the following in a couple of recent playthroughs:
- CV total weight jumps by 1k tons after launch. In the design screen it's fine, but in the design-for-rebuild weight is increased so my CVs seem way overweight for no clear reason. I've tried attributing the gap but can't figure a way to make all the boxes add up.
- AI prefers TB and MB for recon. Even with DB and PB available and search radius well within range of all aircraft, all my search patterns lately have been run with strike aircraft :-(
- Minor quibble, seems like MB will only run torpedoes for naval strikes, even with skip bombing, bombentorpedo, and guided bomb. I'm at least curious if they'd perform more consistently with bombs, but might be that building MBs without torpedo capability is the answer.

To your last point here bd88, I've often wondered the same thing but noticed after a certain point it seems all MBs are designed to carry torpedoes.

If I may be honest, I'm not complaining about the MBs... Ability to carry torpedos always seems to me like a substantial increase in capability. But I have also noticed that my airbases are always starved for strike aircraft.

Odd, flying boats should be prioritized for search over basically everything else, with the exception of float planes if that doctrine option is ticked. Torpedo bombers are above dive bombers and fighters in the list of what gets used though, so them getting used is expected.

It will use whatever aircraft has the longest range. So if a nation has old shoddy PBs, it is entirely conceivable that something else will be sent on search.
