I thought I would do a game as Britain.
Specs: Version 1.18, very large fleet, 80% research rate, varied tech, harsher peace, slow aircraft.

Excerpts from the recently discovered diary of Admiral Fishamat:
January 1900
I have been promoted to first Sea Lord. The global position is adequate, but we need to build more colonial cruisers, and also more battleships to keep up with our rivals.

March 1900
Putting lots of ships into mothballs or reserve frees up money for extra research -- priorities are steam turbines, fire control, ship design and guns -- and building needed ships.

October 1900
By reducing the armour and the calibre of the main armament (the 13" guns are not very good anyway) we can give our new battleships a greater speed than any of our rivals, which should prove useful in tactical situations.
We have also increased the calibre of the 2ndary battery from the ineffective 6" to the better 7" guns, which have a higher muzzle velocity.

March 1901
The Prime Minister is worried about a possible war with Germany. So am I -- I am worried that it might happen before the 5 Speedy-class battleships are completed.
Our next priority should be destroyers, and after that strengthening bases in the Mediterranean. I hope we do have a war soon, as beating one enemy decisively will make the others think twice.

August 1901
We raided them in the Baltic and sank 2 battleships and one heavy cruiser for 7 or our destroyers lost. This is the turning point of the war! Another few victories like that and Russia will no
longer pose a threat to us.

September 1901
The Russians decided to raid our coast again, and lost another heavy cruiser.
We can keep this up for as long as they have cruisers for us to sink.

December 1901
The government won't gicve us enough money for the navy.
So, we have a cunning plan: we'll have all our old worn-out ships do a world cruise. The negative press coverage will hopefully squeeze some money out of the treasury.
