Well, I got crazy this afternoon, and started to play the Confederate States of America. I hope my family doesn't get mad, one of my ancestors was in the Union Army... oh well.
Anyway, my first game was boring, so I quit at 1917 with no wars. That ain't fun. My next game is in August of 1911. I've fought one war against Japan and beat her in one month. That will teach them to mess with us Rebels. (Rebel Yell)

Well, I guess I am not very good at accounting, the government sacked me. Anyway, I got a job at Newport News Naval Shipyard as a naval architect and I am making more money and having more fun. Life is good.

OK, CSA game number three. So, far, no wars but a good fleet. The French are getting testy, maybe because we are starting to grow grapes and have wineries. HEH HEH!
You know, one idea I am using is to setup a 2nd Desktop and run the game there. It works real good on my two monitors.

Two monitors is normally how I play. Game on one and chat/music/videos on the other. RTW is a good coffee game.

I am moving on to Italy which I haven't played in a while. I've built two kinds of light cruisers, destroyers and corvettes along with some armored cruisers. I will build no more until I see how my technology goes. I am improving all of my bases and increasing my shipyard capacities.

Ok, I am playing Germany, it is 1911 or thereabouts in a war with Italy and I am kicking her empennage. So, two Italian armored cruisers, sail up the Weser River by Bremerhaven and I corner them with my armored cruisers. Needless to say, they lost one and other limped home. Some one explain to me, why two Italian Armored cruisers would sail up the Weser River, Gentlemen. It doesn't lead to Italy, trust me. It was stupid.

Try these two goals as the CSA: 1) Build your own fleet, and include Monitors and Merrimac-likes. I interpret a Merrimac-like as a ship with one main gun, a heavy broadside, and loads of armor. 2) Reclaim territory from the United States. I was going to do that, until the United States offered me an alliance. I said "Wow, that is so ahistorical...but whatever, I'll take land from the British instead".

Well, that's interesting. I am the member of the family who eventually discovered the fact through research. I like the like the idea of building monitor's. I wonder how Germany would like it.

They wouldn't, but you're the admiral. China had several for a while. Actually, as I examine the geography of Germany, a low freeboard monitor would and could pass through Kiel Canal very easily and provide good defensive technology to the Baltic along with air fields and coastal guns. They would be handy on the Rhine, and the Weser, the Oder, possibly the Moselle, Maas etc. My friend and colleague, Admiral Scheer and I will have to discuss this over some Schnapps.
