I think there's something I don't understand about the Blockade mechanics. In my current game my enemy, France, and I, A-H are blockading each at the same time. Shouldn't one of us have 'superiority'

Interesting bug, for some reason that is the most amusing mental image. The only thing I can think of is to ask if you have an ally? Maybe that might be making things weird.

According to manual, you must have 110% of the ennemy naval strenght in the build area of that nation.
France "build area" is north europe and A-H is Mediterannea.
So, it's possible to blockade north europe with more Hungarian ships than french ship in this area, and blockade Mediterannea with more French ships than AH ship in this area ^^
A bit of a strange case, tough.

Yes, as baggers says, it is entirely possible and not a bug, but a bit odd I admit. I guess the AH AI will pull home its ships the next turn and try to break the blockade, so it is likely a temporary effect.

I have no ships in northern europe -- all ships in Med, except for 1 ship in West Africa. This has been true now for 4 or 5 months? Note the game started with 1.1. This condition started when I still had 1.1. Attachments:Simul blockade.rar (440.93 KB)

Some active ships should stay in every home area to protect country, I learn this lesson when playing CSA - I concentrated ships to support invasion to Bermudas and then saw that pair of inferior CA blockaded me in the Carribean, as there stayed only one old DD.

You are allied with Germany. They are blockading France.

Great Britain and Germany were both close to simultaneously blockading each other in 1917... The U boats were nearly cutting off the Atlantic (give it another few months of "Convoys are for wimps" nonsense or another few hundred submarines?) And the RN were largely successfully blockading the German's from the sea...they could still get stuff overland (and via Black Sea etc) but that was weak rations and much lacking in important materials. The problem with the blockade mechanic is it assumes a World War level of impact on major continental powers... I doubt Russia or even America will care terribly much for example...

Lol, yes! I'm very late to the party having only recently discovered this splendid little game. I'm still playing with RTW-1, partly as I'm mostly interested in the naval tech transition from pre to super Dreadnought over the first two decades (and before those "nasty buzzing machines" spoilt the atmos!) and partly to understand the designers process as much as possible...
