Sometimes when I design a new KV for anti-submarine work it ends up as a minesweeper instead of an ASW vessel. How do you optimize a corvette's AS values or how do you optimize its MS values? Is it worth adding DP guns or advanced rangefinders on them in the late game? Does that affect SW or MS values? Any design hints or strategies for KV design would be welcome! It's always been a bit of dice roll for me when I go to design them.

Minesweeping gear halves the ASW Value. otherwise nothing makes a difference for ASW/MS work.

Minesweeping gear halves the ASW Value. otherwise nothing makes a difference for ASW/MS work. I assume that everyone knows that minesweepers were made of wood, for obvious reasons. Degaussing was never successful, so adding minesweeping equipment is dangerous for destroyers and corvettes. But no matter.

For a KE to be a minesweeper, you need to fit it with mine-sweeping equipment. This is a checkbox in the "Additional Armament" tab, "Mine Warfare" section. *Larger ships have a higher minesweeping score. There is a formula, but I can't recite it off-hand. *Mine-sweeping gear halves the ASW rating of a vessel. The ASW rating of a KE (and a DD) is also affected by tonnage, though with a lower cap. 800t gives the maximum value of 5. *Later, you research additional ASW weapons that can be fitted, allowing the ASW rating to be increased to 10. This requires a 900t vessel to hold the second pair of K-guns. More detailed information can be found in Brygun's thread about KEs: nws-online.proboards.com/thread/4236/corvettes-say-hello-little-friends
