I know I am beating a dead horse, but given that our simulated ships are supposed to be crewed by living, intelligent crew, I would like assume that after watching a CL with a jammed rudder spin in the same exact circle for 30+ minutes they might, just might, get the idea that perhaps it is not going to continue in a straight line. I know that this is not a common situation, and that allowing players to manually lay torpedo angles and speeds might well be subject to player abuse, but come on. I would happily take a much greater VP penalty than captains mode if it meant I never have to helplessly watch my 6 submerged tube armed CL utterly fail to hit what is effectively a sitting duck over and over and over.
Ok, that came off far more cranky than it needed to, my apologies. 3 instances of torpedo proof spinning ships in 2 battles got to me. That being said, I do see value in allowing manual aimed torpedo shots, with an extra penalty to vp, as it would offer the player significant advantages against the AI.
