Hi all, I played today the patch 1.24, Admiral's mode as usual with autosave every 30 minutes on the "game1" slot. I turned my computer off for lunch. I came back later. I selected the "game1" slot but the button "Load autosave" says "no saved game to load!". I started again, left for diner and there's still no saved game to launch.
Is the autosave not automatically saving the game or what am I doing wrong?

Is there any relelvant data on the saved games list?
Have you tried jsut pressing 'continue' on the launcher?
Might be worth trying to open the game as admin (right click the icon, hit run as administrator.)

There are 2 files in save folder:
Autosave.bcs - strategic turn save after you hit "next turn" Autosave.sac - battle generator save which should be done accordingly to settings (look at your main RTW2 folder into "preferences" file and find line "autosave".)
You can see last changing of both files. What is your setting in preferences and what is last change of Autosave.sac relating to your closing the game?

stevethecat : You found something! When I click on the Windows close "x" button: - as admin, the game prompt a messagebox asking if I want to quit without saving the game? Yes/Cancel - as normal user, the game doesn't prompt the messagebox and simply closes the game without saving it. Now I know, thanks. I played as admin and as normal user for a few turns but the game still doesn't autosave when I hit the next "Turn" button. But if I hit "Save" button, the game is saved and can be loaded later. dorn : There is no Autosave.* file in the folder "\Rule the Waves 2\Save\Game1" neither in "\Rule the Waves 2\Save\", but I see 3 files named "RTWGame1.bcs", "RTWGame1.sta" and "MapData.dat" that look like saved data. In "Preferences" file, Autosave is set to 15(minutes?). Edit after a few tests: "MapData.dat" and "RTWGame1.sta" are saved when I hit "Turn", while RTWGame1.bcs is saved once I hit "Save". Let's say I played from 1900 to 1920 and last manually saved in 1905. If I reload the game, I will play on a map of 1920 with ships and technologies from 1905, won't I? Wouldn't it be nice to have: - "MapData.dat", "RTWGame1.bcs" and "RTWGame1.sta" saved when we press the "Turn" button and after each battle = autosave - "MapData_04_1920.dat", "RTWGame1_04_1920.bcs" and "RTWGame1_04_1920.sta" saved when we press the "Save" button (in May 1920 in this case). The option "delete obsolete ships" must be deactivated for it to work. Some script could do something like that, but it would be better if it was an in-game feature.

It's worth getting into the habit of always running the game as Admin, I have had no end of bizarre issues when playing as a regular user!
As for any autosave gremlins beyond that I can't say I have ever used it, I'm one of those 'hit the save button every 2 minutes' types.

I'll manually save from now.
But since I still want an autosave: I made the script mentioned earlier. Message me if you want instructions.
