I will undoubtably be buying RTW, probably this weekend after I beat my new win7 install onto a ssd into submission, or at least gruding agreeableness.
However, wondering about two things:
1) I ASSUME I can design ships and then import them into a scenario with SAI to play out with the historical ships, or maybe even add to a campaign scenario? Or is the new updated SAI Ship Editor as good as the one in RTW?
2) Is it possible to design ships from the really revolutionary period of 1860 - 1900?
Any info appreciated, now back to win7 and it's joys.

1. No. The design ship utility in SAI is not compatible with the one in RTW. The latter is far more detailed.
2. Not really, that's well outside the scope of RTW.

Sad to hear, but grateful for the info, and fast too. I think the tech would be fairly compatable back to maybe 1880 or maybe only 1890, that was an interesting 20 years that would be fun to play around with. For some reason the ships of the late victorian period are interesting.

I think that's more likely to be a future expansion/title. I for one would love to see a take on RTW that goes from 1850 to 1900, starting with wooden ships and ending where RTW is today
