I know in the game, the budget is affected by both the base resources and resources from possessions. How is the so called "resources from possessions" calculated? Is it computed by the values of the possessions you hold? In other words, does the value of the possession have an effect on your "resources from possessions" ?
Another thought I had was, since economic growth increases your base resources periodically. Is there a way to increase your "resources from possessions" as the game progresses?
I'm trying to build a Cold War game scenario that incorporates the economic and industrial growth in some major "colonies" such as Canada, Australia, India, or minor areas scattered In Asia, such as Singapore, Shanghai, or Hongkong, which enjoyed fast growing economies and improving industrial facilities in different phases of the Cold War.
Imagine, in 1970, if France held on to Indochina, Japan had mainland China and the Korean Peninsula, and Britain with India, Canada, and Oceania, their economic might would probably be a lot larger, which could translate into growth of "resources from possessions" in the game.
Canada represented 2.63% of the world's economy in 1969, India represented 3.5% of the world's economy in 1964. And Italy represented 5.11% of the world's economy in 1969. Canada literally was more than half of the size of Italy's economy in the year of 1969. I can't help but picture if the effects of these fast growing "colonies" or "possessions" could be reflected in the game.
So back to my question, can you make an individual colony grow over time and reflect it onto the nation's resource and model it into the budget calculation? I would also love to hear your ideas and thoughts on this.

I would suggest to read this post done by aeson . But you cannot change growth of possesion as there is none. It is still quite historical as colonies and dominions were unwilling to finance fleets. As example you can take UK which has approximately same economic strenght as rest of British empire but the fleet was almost solely financed by UK. Colonies and dominions were unwilling to finance military as they expect that their master will defend them even if UK during interwar period more and more insisted on sharing responsibilities with colonies to defend them. Another thing is that any such contribution means for colonies mostly just giving funds to master as their industry, experience, training was not up to enough to build their own fleet and man it. So another reason and difficulties to politicaly made this happen.
