Currently we can set the engine priority to speed, normal or reliable. I think these priorities really should apply to the overall ship construction rather than just the engines - this would simulate the number and strength of bulk heads, firefighting gear, repair materials / tooling, etc.
Armor impacts if damage is done by a hit / near miss - but we have no means of impacting a ships damage control capabilities outside of tech research.
I propose, at a min.:
Normal stays as it is currently - no affect.
Reliable should increase ship survivability, better fire resistance / firefighting capabilities and flooding repair rates.
Practically, if implemented, this might be a quick way of increasing CV and CVL survivability to dud bombs and resulting fire damage... And would exact a steeper in battle price of speed, especially early on before damage control techs are brought into play. Currently, playing with larger fleet sizes, all my DDs and CLs have speed selected for the engines and its common for CV, BC and BBs to have speed selected as well.
Thank you for your consideration.
