Hello all
I am having a problem installing the SAI program on my home PC.
Up to now I have been running the game on my work laptop - Windows 7, i5 etc. Absolutely no issues.
I now have put together a tower PC at home and would like to use that instead. This uses Windows 10.
I copied the .exe for v100 and tried running it - but I just get the message "This App can't run on this PC - To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher".
I've tried running in compatibility mode, but still no joy.
Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve? Is it a Windows 10 issue?
Thanks!

You say that you copied the executable but have you tried actually installing the software and applying your user code to the new installation? Try installing v1.00 and patching up to v1.6, the current build and see what happens, make sure that you run as Administrator and that the NWS folder is not in the Program Files folders but installed straight onto one of your letter drives (C:\NWS\Steam and Iron). If this runs you can copy any saved games and or custom files seamlessly into the new installation. No major Windows-10 specific issues have been reported for the SAI franchise that I am aware of.
Please let us know how this works. Thanks.

Thanks for replying!
Was a while since I installed on laptop, so I forget the process, but what I was doing was clicking on the file "STEAMANDIRONV10.EXE" and thinking that would launch the installer.
I'll have a look on the laptop tomorrow and see if I can find a separate installer.
Cheers!

That file (STEAMANDIRONV10.EXE) should launch the installer so this may be a Win-10 thing. I will flag down Fredrik in case he has missed this thread. Curious.

I have tested SAI out on multiple Win 10 PCs and have not had a problem launching it...no solid idea what your issue may be at this time. The only reason I can think of right now for it not launching is if you try to run it when it is installed in the "Program Files" folder, which can cause issues with many games and apps due to tighter security.
I will do some additional research about this to see what else may be the issue.
Edit 1: After a bit of research it appears the reported message *normally* appears to indicate someone tying to run a 64-bit application on 32-bit OS, which makes no sense in this case as the SAI game is certainly a 32-bit application. What version of Windows 10 are you running; 64-bit or 32-bit? Have you seen this message with any other applications on that machine?
Edit 2: I have also found reports that if a file gets corrupted when you copy it onto Windows 10 that this same message may appear when you try to execute it - you might try recopying the files from the original media (to another folder on the new machine) and try that out...

Yes, I am on Windows 10 64-bit.
I'll go get another copy of the.exe from the laptop and try saving elsewhere. Currently it is on c:/documents/Games/SAI. As you say, copying into Windows 10 seems to corrupt the file. Annoying!
Really, thanks for looking around for a fix!

Hello, I am curious how this played out. I am new to the forum and want to get into SAI, but also run Windows 10, 64bit and want to confirm that it will run on my system before purchasing. Thank you

Hi and welcome. There is an SAI playable demo available here: Steam and Iron Downloads
I would suggest that you do NOT install into the program files folders in Win-10 and instead point the installer directly to your letter drive so that the file path is X:\NWS\... Try this with the demo and if there are no issues you are in a position to make an informed decision as to whether your system will run SAI as intended. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I am running SAI in 'Windows 10' 64bit, installed in 'C:\NWS\Steam and Iron North Sea' and all is working OK.

Hello
A little bit of thread necromancy...
In the end I was distracted and defeated (mind of a butterfly...) and so gave installing SAI a rest.
I saw Randomizer's suggestion - I downloaded the demo, and installed in default c:\NWS with no issues. All is fine.
However, again trying the installer for the full version (that worked on my old laptop)- even when the installer is sitting in C:\NWS - and I continue to get the Windows 10 message "This App can't run on this PC - To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher".
Any further suggestions?
Many thanks

Thanks for responding.
I ran this MS troubleshooter. However, it just scanned my machine as commented "Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem".
I suspect somehow the installer is corrupted in some way...

I suspect somehow the installer is corrupted in some way... I would suggest you run the error check under tools. Simply right click on your C: drive, click on properties and click on the tools tab. It should be the first entry. Generally, windows 10 runs this automatically, but I would suggest you try anyway to see if there is a bad track or sector. Also, perform a disk defrag and optimize. Get the drive cleaned up after moving files, its always a good policy. Was the original file you moved to your new computer in an EXE format or a Zipped format? If the latter, suggest you use a compression package like WinZip or WinRAR to check the cycle redundancy check or CRC. If that is defective, the archive is bad.

Hartford,
If you want, you can send an email to Christopher Dean (NWS Store operator/owner) with your name & the email that you used when you ordered the game (and the serial number you received if possible) and he can set you up with another copy for free, just in case that is the issue. Sent the above to Chris' email address at: nws-online@nws-online.net
Thanks.
