This particular bug report is going to be a bit more technical than most
"Loading to between turn clean up battle data"
Today I was going to go do my laundry. In RTW2 I had just build a batch of AVR, 2000 ton Aviation Raiders with 3 floatplanes and anti-merchant guns. They are cost effective surface raiders but are totally unsuitable for fighting warships. There were sent to move to ocean zones where the enemy had bases >but< I had forgotten to set their role from AF (active fleet) to R (raider)
When I came back from laundry I started up the game.
The first battle generated was my forces attacking a convoy with 2 AVR (recall each is 2000 tons) with a few DD that had almost instant contact in the storm with large enemy DD force.
Okay... this was a screw up. So I force exited the game via Task Manager.
Reloaded the game which was at the between turn stage. Set the AVR ships to R mode and tweaked their target ocean zones.
Hit end turn
Battle generator gives a convoy attack with which would be the fighting warships...
except
It crashes.
The message splashed poofed on my hitting a button before I could write the exact phrase down. The game went to the between turn mode, having advanced a month without processing the submarine page or any other battles or intell actions or any other between turn messages.
It occured to me I had seen this recently with another game that had "carrier" error messages popping up. This was the Game4 that fully corrupted. My Game9 did have carrier battles and at times I had Task Manager exited.
What this leads me to believe is that some of the in-battle data variables are being left hanging. Yes it is the player force exiting the game in an unexpected state.
It could be possible when loading a game when it is at the between turn spreadsheet to simply set >all< battle variables to their default values (e.g. 0 or inactive or whatever default is). I believe this would help avoid the follow up errors, crashes and the game corruption I saw. While in a pure-rogue-like there shouldnt be that I've seen glitches, carriers misbehave and various other bug reports and my example forgot Raider status that I do sometimes use it. I think though we might keep faith with other players that do this with a preventable clean up of the battle data variables.
