In a couple of threads I have mentioned an interest in pushing RTW back to 1890 or 1895 so as to open up a bit more play with pre-dreadnoughts. During this time a war between Britain and France was a real possibility. The Fashoda Incident prompted the French to mobilize their fleet and had the British done the same some interesting naval engagements might have ensued. Also, such a pushback would allow the Spanish-American war to happen in game.
Thinking about it, I doubt the developers would feel such a change would be worth the effort. I have no idea about what would be involved coding-wise, but I'll bet there would be a lot of grunt work rewriting all the values for the general world picture stuff and legacy fleet data.
So, my intermediate solution, create a Fashoda 2 Event. This would simulate Britain and France once again bumping into each other in the colonial sphere and generating sparks. The Event could I'm sure be written in such a way that the player, British or French, could choose whether or not to not allow the Event to escalate into war. For those of a more real history view, the Fashoda 2 Event can be side stepped. But for those of us who would want to explore it's possibilities, we can do so. I'd suggest the Event occur in 1900 well before other events nudged Britain and France into grudging non-hostility.
