Hi Folks, I've been tinkering for some months now, playing with this amiably moddably game to try and produce a game that feels as historically immersive as I can manage (to my own poor taste). I posted a rambling AAR (QV) last year and have since then been happily designing ships for all nations (mostly the ones that the RN plays against by default so far though I've started on Austro-Hungarians and Spanish too) and slotting them into a new IDes file for the game to breed it's fleets from. The excellent Seawolf has produced a lot of historical fleets for various starts but I enjoy playing with the ship designer myself so I've been making lots, mostly derived from Historical designs and various Never-Were types. I've been gaming, mostly though not exclusively in the naval vein, since the 70s so I've way too many books about this kind of thing and thus had much source material to feed my tinkerings! Anyway, this is the state of play for my current iteration of the game's IDes folder... I've only listed the Capital ships as there's another (*cough* hundreds) several Cruiser/Destroyer/Corvette designs I've done too. If you've read the AAR you'll find a lot of the earlier national designs familiar btw...

I've posted this in the general discussion rather tham Modding or AARs as it's just the profiles of what I've done so far for general interest. If I'm ever happy enough with it to upload a copy I'll put it in modding. As I mentioned a lot of the "Generic" X designs are variations of either Vanilla files or some of Seawolf's excellent work. Once this iteration is working to my taste I'll try another AAR and post that, either in whole or just from 1910-ish (where my prior narrative ran out of steam) as it'll almost certainly be a RN game again.

As ever you’ve been really busy while I’ve been away. Marvellous designs.

Currently working through Run 27d (using tuned version of the above designs for the IDes)
I'm up to 1910, have just fallen into a war with Germany (who have "Nassau" and Von der Tann" type BB/BCs coming into service to face my "Nelson class" Hexnoughts and 4 actual "Dreadnoughts" but no real Battlecruisers (Just my usual [see AAR] "Untakeable class", "Imperieuse class" and a couple of Ibuki-esque Big-Gun Cruisers) of my own so far
Most interesting news is the USN "reaching into the future" (to pluck a design from the next "ERA" regardless of their current Tech and Dockyard limits) to lay down 3 truly epic "Constellation class" Battlecruisers, of 44000+ Tons and 8 x 14 inch guns (ABXY) - so basically the "USN 1912 BC proposal" listed above.
These will be mightily challenging opponents when completed and easily the most powerful Battlecruisers for years! Giving the nascent USN a very "Big Frigates FTW" vibe...I'm looking forward to tussling with them, especially as the Battle Generator will rarely allow me to significantly outnumber them...
