Hello everyone,
I've been lurking the forum for quite a while and the immiment release of RTW3 has me in a mood to reminisce. I remember dorn and aeson not being staff, recall Adseria first appearing in the RTW1 "Moments, sometimes unintended, of humour in-game" thread and am saddened that some of akosjaccik's artistic contributions of that time are lost now. Godspeed, Shell Dye Dave.
There's one member on this forum who has consistently participated all these years and always offered helpful insight. At times I have been annoyed by his focus on reality when things in th game were discussed, but there's no denying this : oldpop2000 is to me a large part of what makes this forum so great. He's a treasure of knowledge and anecdote. Any forum is richer for having someone like him, an old-timer who's willing to share his experience with us young'uns.
I just want to say thank you, oldpop. It's a pleasure reading your posts.
Thank you to many others who share their thoughts and opinions here. Thank you to Director for interesting posts in game discussions (even if you're less frequent these days), and thank you to garrisonchronholm and williammiller for giving us the occasional insight behind the curtain in addition to their regular postings. In memoriam thank you to Christopher Dean who surely worked hard when e-mailing all impatient gamers their codes after RTW2's release and helping me when I could no longer launch into the game.
Maybe I'm the only one, but if you can think of someone who gives this forum soul, feel free to add, I am just feeling a little sentimental.
P.S. : Thanks to Fredrik too, I suppose, for giving us these games as a one-man dev team. :-P

I can be annoying about using real history but I am an amateur historian. I've been studying military history since I was 9 years old. I've been in involved in three wars, either directly or indirectly and worked on Naval aircraft for over thirty. But gaming is interesting and it gives me a chance to test my ideas. Again, I appreciate your comments and will try not to be a PIA about comparing real history to the game.
I also agree about your comments about others. This is the only forum I've ever belong to, and will stay as long as my mind stays with me.

I am glad to see this post has reached your ears. Let us hope the "old" of pop is a mere name thing and your mind stays with us for many years more.

I believe strongly, that if I stay on this forum, reading the great information provided by all, I will keep my mind fresh. It forces me to read, research and write about operations, technology and geography of war. Hopefully it will work. Again, thanks for the kind thoughts, it encourages me even more.

Oldpop is great. I've passed a boring work day here and there discussing/arguing some obscure bit of history with him.

Oldpop is great. I've passed a boring work day here and there discussing/arguing some obscure bit of history with him. Well great, I will argue/discuss so your day isn't boring. I've been retired for 20 years, and my list of honey do's is still long. I never get bored reading and writing on this forum.
