I've hit 500 hours in RTW3, and have seen MTBs do ANYTHING just once. A torpedo was fired. Other than that, I've seen them get hit. In RTW2, they occasionally would get in scraps. But in 3, they appear to do absolutely nothing.

I played two games of Italy, built MTBS both, and I didn't SEE it once

I played two games of Italy, built MTBS both, and I didn't SEE it once I have seen them sortie from Sicily and fight in a battle. A couple even launched torps. They missed, but they tried. One got hit by a shell and sunk

I played two games of Italy, built MTBS both, and I didn't SEE it once I build them (and see them in battles near my coast) all the time - but yeah, they're really ineffective. Also, AI, in general, is much too afraid to launch torps early on (before torpedo salvoes are an option) - basically they'll only launch them at immobile (sinking) targets. So, yeah: low on numbers and low on aggression = 0 effect. And they're supposed to be the 1890's equivalent of 1930's torpedo bombers ... really dissapointing.

Okay - I seem to remember something, but I failed to take the screenshot and now I can't post it as proof - but, I seem to remember that MTB's have submerged Torpedo Tubes - which, if I remember it right, can't fire at speeds above 25 knots - and MTB's have a top speed of 40 knots.
So ... they're basically incapable of ever using their torpedoes - which are, let's face it, their only weapon. Could someone verify this for me, please? I currently have no save files in this era, so I can't do it myself ... sorry.

I cannot provide actual screenshot proof, but I have seen MTB's launch torpedoes against enemy's once. It was an action with light forces and the MBT squadron was based in the Baltic States. The squadron was stationed in the mouth of the Gulf of Riga and Russian DD's tried to go through it at night. Might have been the only time I have seen MTB's go on a torpedo attack in both this game and RtW2.
Though I have seen Missile boats in action

Historically they weren't submerged.

Most likely due to there not being any fixed, above water torpedo tubes in the game at the moment.
So that means either swivel mounts or fixed, underwater mounts.

You think it would be easier to make them swivels and then lock them to a negligible degree of rotation, than handicap them to a launch speed well below the top speed of the boat with underwater tubes...can we get a dev to confirm this? Bug? If not then it's an odd design oversight.
