Looking to answer this question myself, I've found posts that reference the stats of the various missile warheads, but no source. Can someone point me to a good source for actual antiship effects of the warheads of HSSMs, MSSMs, HSAMs, LSAMs, HASMs, and MASMs?
EDIT: I meant in game, not IRL. Bad phrasing, my mistake.

Can you elaborate a bit ? do you want the design/makeup of the warhead, or rather what its effects on target are ? example of HSAM www.okieboat.com/Talos%20firing%20operations.htmlsome pictures of practice against a destroyer hull.

Can you elaborate a bit ? do you want the design/makeup of the warhead, or rather what its effects on target are ? Ha, this is entirely on me for misleading phrasing! I meant in game. As in, I understand RTW3 simulates missile hits as large HE hits. But how large, what area of the ship is typically hit, etc.?

Thanks, interesting read. Pleased to have confirmation that I'm enough of a modern surface warfare nerd to have previous knowledge of 100% of the engagements cited. In RTW3 terms, my understanding is that all missiles in game are simulated as subsonic sea skimmers. Is this correct? The Kh-22/AS-4 Kitchen was well within RTW3 scope, being in service in the early 60s I believe. The FFG section in the paper is pretty brutal to that platform IMHO. Being so vulnerable to a single Charlie I is... not great.

More questions about the in game simulation of missiles. I'm trying to test these questions but finding it difficult because the AI does not seem to like using surface attack SAMs as much as I do.- How are HSAMs and MSAMs attacking surface targets treated for interception purposes? Are they subject to defensive interception by SAMs in the same way that SSMs are? If so, are they easier or harder to shoot down?
- When using HSAMs and MSAMs in surface attack mode, ships seem to fire off exactly half of the mount's magazine and then stop. I presume this is to retain some ammunition for use in the anti air role. Is this correct? Can this ratio be altered manually, or can ships be given permission to keep firing SAMs at surface targets until dry?
