OK guys, that PS part we're focusing on here.... that was a joke. A very old joke. From the 80's. Originally referring to the Exocet.
Hahahaha.
The point of the post was where RtW goes next. Everybody is assuming forwards. I think it would much cooler to go backward. Say, 1860 - 1900. Any thoughts on that?
PPS... you want P700s vs Iowa? Try "Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations". <g>

If you go backwards...Ships would barely be able to kill each other! D;

I'd be happy with either direction .
+1 vote for this one.
Dreadnought was just 1 more step along the Gun vs. Armor battlefield which saw hundreds of such steps before it - just as we (in this game) see the (first) 100 steps after. Will we be exploring the previous or next 100 steps is all the same to me: it'll be fun either way.
Cheers!
P.S. My actual vote would be something along the lines of 1875 - 1950: 3 Generations of Capital Ships, but my momma always told me not to be too greedy.

I would be happy with a "non-Washington" extension of the "core" game period to 1950 with naval air forces as the big new thing. I want to have an airplane designer just like we now have the ship designer. Technologies like new engines, self sealing fuel tanks, aerial torpedoes, dive bombing brakes, different MG/MC calibres etc would work out in the same way as for the ship designer today. We would have naval fighters, torpedo/level bombers, dive bombers, scout planes, all landborne, carrierborne or as floatplanes. Build naval airfields/airbases for coastal defence, have operational control over airplanes on a sliding scale with technology development etc. But please abstract the "non-naval" air forces.
And in the ship designer we could get to realize some really weird designs like cruiser/carrier or even battleship/carrier mixed layout. Or small scout cruisers/large DD which have a floatplane...

Personally, I'd rather a deeper exploration of what other states are doing. It feels like it's just you versus the world. There needs to be a sense of build up and war between other states as well. I'd love to watch as two states duked it out with me comfortably on the sidelines working out who to save for my own ends.
