Have the devs looked into reining in the AI sub spam of 1.33? Atm I almost feel like going back to playing older versions because of it. It's easily manageable if you build enough escorts. You just need to do more than the bare minimum on ASW/CP. If I have 2-3x the ASW/CP requirements, I'll be sinking 6-10 enemy submarines a month late game (and escorts are cheap as chips). It may be manageable, but it kills the whole point of the game. When the other fleets can't build a surface fleet because they've sunk so much into subs, surface actions of almost any type get declined. I haven't played the game in quite a while solely because of this issue.

I want my BBs to fight as many enemy BBs as possible. I want lots of action, tons of mayhem and plenty of ships sunk all around. Watching splash screens saying the ASW force sank x subs this month is not why I bought this game. In my A-H game I beat up the US badly. Now they're pushing to nearly 300 subs and have taken 10 years to produce 6 BBs in addition to the two the survived the war.

I've never got to the point (I generally only play until 1925 or the first war after 1925, if I have a new class or two and I'm keen to see how they perform) where I run out of opponents that have a fleet to fight, but if you're finding that, then it sounds like it's an issue worth addressing.

try reducing tech progression to 50-60% of normal - medium subs won't come into service until after 1920, and as a bonus it's fun savoring the flavor of the tech eras instead of them coming and going in a blink of an eye

And then you end up with 50k behemoths with 12" guns, lol.
