Rule the Waves fleet battle between me as Germany and enemy AI as Great Britain
Force compositiion Player: 13BB, 9BC, 12CL, 30DD Enemy: 7BB, 12BC, 10CL, 27DD
At the point of game progression i was able to out build GB so had more numbers.
yet AI battlecruisers were very aggressive. Upon contact they went full on kamikaze on my scouting force BCs. I messed up battle entry of my main force resulting Graf Spee from scouting force heavily damaged.
Still once every ship is committed the enemy soon gets out shot and started fleeing. Chased down individual damaged/scattered enemy ships for a while and decided to go after enemy main force. It then became a running battle trying to sandwich the enemy between my scouting force and main force.
The weather is interesting, it is day and not raining, but at first a fresh breeze limits ship speeds to 26kts which later changed to strong breeze further limiting speed to 22kts. So while there is sun and daylight, ship movement is relatively restricted and so I never made offensive flotilla attacks after the sandwich is formed - the DDs would likely just become cannon fodder..
Battle started at 10:22 and ended at 20:02, just after the sun has set. Final result is enemy lost 6BB, 6BC, 7CL and 12DD. We lost 8DD and Graf Spee very close to sinking. It could be better, but still not bad for a day's fight there.

Wow !! Nicw work and very interesting, but I am MORE impressed that you could out-build England! I've never gotten CLOSE to that level of success.
Would love to see ship profiles for the most common types, if that is possible and not terribly inconvenient.

Yeah main purpose was to surpass GB in economy so twas constant war preferably with GB but really anybody... after a win against non-GB just take as few possession as possible to boost base resource - tis a finding by ddg and it works well. but indeed was tough especially the early ones:x
the ships are end game level and modded so mayhaps not applicable.. but just wanted to record another battle in scale of "jutland"..

Speaking of.. to anyone building end game BCs... how do you address the 31knot/12inch problem? i.e. you either have to be faster than 31kts or have less than 12in belt to be classed as BC. i couldn't find a proper solution... or just to hell with armor and load up all the guns ala jackie fisher style??

45min battle? mother of god, none of mine ever last even 10min - i stick with 1 controllable deathblob TF and just let it run real normal time (or faster) continuously like a caveman lol
fun to watch though

I allow the 12-inch max for my BCs. They are built to fire twice as many shells as the AI, and I never rely on them to "stand and deliver". In a Fleet Action, they are on a distant flank or I steer them behind the BB's line. I don't have any "thin sides" problems.

My solution to this dilemma is to not adopt the AON scheme for BCs, stick with "sloped deck behind belt". A 12' belt that's backed by ~4' deck armor can keep out a lot more than just a 12' belt...

hmmm nice interesting ideas there! i'm going to experiment a bit too. Flanker: it is certainly more 'meta' (long as one's having fun it's all good!)

so, decided to do some commentary videos on my gameplays. i'm not a "youtuber" but feeling this game is in good need of some comments to show what is really happening.
starting a late game war with USA in the Caribbean. firstly a battleship engagement... and later will be a video recap of game progression to this point.

aand starting a new game but with some changes I just imagine Admiral Tirpitz in 1900 proposing to the Reichstag that the next class of battleships will be built in French shipyards...
I guess the second Battleship of the Bismarck class would have been named differently
With regard to ship numbers vs Great Britain, it's no wonder they'll outbuild you if you always go for make size ships. German ships of that time were actually smaller than British ships, through all classes (~12000t for B, 10000t for CA, 3000t for CL)

lol,, historically yes but gameplay wise the french yards is a clear choice, 16k tons 12 inch guns, and no Hidden Flaws like if you build at the brits. if ya don't need 16k ton the US yards at 14k is the best i reckon. tension with USA tend to stay low especially early game. i think my last play thru my 2nd class of B, and 1st gen BB and BC is built at US.
good point about the ship size indeed that i'm realizing meself as usually building them big and so ending up in less numbers hmmmm:|
PS: i feel that this game is more of a semi-historical sandbox do-what-you-like thing... Steam and Iron is more "pure blooded history" title (and just played 30min of that, bah.. fleet battle galore it is, awesome).
