Would it be possible to show the targets for land bombardment on the map when that is the mission? It is a little frustrating to sail up and down the coast looking for a land target, especially when it is rainy or foggy.
As an added dimension this could be effected by the intelligence level of the targeted nation.
As a further added dimension, the location of the target could be wrong forcing the player to then waste their time looking for the target.

During the mission, if you click on the Objective tab then the listed target, it will mark it on the map for you.

What you will find is that many bombardment missions give you ships whose guns cannot reach the bombardment target because of the minefields.

Yeah, that is annoying. It's even worse if the mission goes into night time as soon as you find it. Even dreadnoughts can't destroy the target at night. In real life, that would not happen as it would be planned to arrive at a specific point at a suitable time to fire it. The main reason real-life bombardments failed is due to enemy vessels patrolling the waters.

Often those scenarios are long enough for you to hang around and try again at dawn. A light cruiser that cannot reach the target, alas, can never reach the target.

I hate those Romulan destroyers, I purely do.

It's even worse early in the game before TPS and your brand new 1906 Dreadnought blows up because it couldn't destroy a solitary 1899 DD fast enough.

I'd really, really like it if this were fixed.

tortugapower - I am pleased to say my custom nation bombardment missions have the objective to one side of the minefield. Unfortunately, it isn't going to be fixed in RtW... perhaps in 2.

director I hope so for RtW2 then! It's in my top-5 hopes for RtW2 (although there is no supplanting the desire to control OOB, my #1 ask).

If that wee little glitch is in your top 5, you should be figuring out where you'd like your jaw to land.
