Is there any way we could get a settings option to disable the thing which automatically sets a new force flag division if all divisions are under AI control? I like to play as a naval minister rather than an admiral, so I would rather watch my ships fight than control everything manually. Constantly turning AI control back on is tedious. It works, and the AI can handle my ships well enough, but it gets annoying.

We could look into that. If it is easy to do, it could be made an option, but no promises.

i don't mind controlling a single TF, but when i get the BC 2nd scout TF i often end up sending that one back to port immediately because i run my battles with no pauses on normal/fast and i can't control 2 separate TFs that way. if there is a way to switch at least that 2nd TF to AI, or an option to switch off having a 2nd TF that'd be a great secondary option

We could look into that. If it is easy to do, it could be made an option, but no promises. Would it be difficult to introduce an option to make wars break out among historical alliances? (e.g. Allies against Axis)

I made the exact same suggestion in another thread. I wholeheartedly agree that this would be a great addition. I too like to play more as a minister than an field-commanding admiral. I don't mind spectating battles (as opposed to a bland auto-resolve function), but I prefer to not have to command the battle personally unless I need to override the AI in some specific situation.

Excellent idea.
I really like the automation possibilities of Distant Worlds, where you can set that for every aspect. In RTW2 it would be interesting as well to automate different fields, that would increase difficulty as well.
For example the possibility to have AI take over research priorities, ship procurement and design, ship deployment and the tactical combat as suggested by OP, or any combination of those. Maybe it is not easy to separate the first three into different options, but imho it would add a great deal to replayability and excitement. Even more so than varied tech.
The next step would be to separate ship procurement and design. Eg the strategic AI requests a BB within certain parameters and the player has to design it, similar to the design competitions in interactive AARs.

If it is possible it will be probably very close to auto-resolve of battles using in game system. It is just needed to run on background and show result.

I second this, it would be a quality of life improvement for some no-brainer cruiser battles, and also interesting to watch for larger battles.

Thank you so much for implementing my suggestion! You are welcome! Not totally sure it does not have unintended side effects though. Please post if you see any such.
