The DRM seemed rushed at the end. I was shocked that basically a week before the game came out that DRM was being added, and now surreptitiously the game is being delayed by a month to make it 'better'.
You've asked multiple times for a solution that allows you to use DRM without using a third party. Does that mean you are rolling this yourself and need the month to make the DRM? Because if so than it will be ludicrously simple to break, thereby beating the point of it. Or are you relying on a third party to make the DRM. Because wouldn't that defeat the point of not going with Steam? You're going with a third party and you're paying some amount up front or on per unit pricing. What happens if the people making the DRM goes tits up?
This whole thing is really weird. I'd just leave it here, but I was excited to buy RTW2. Now I feel like I cannot because it's unethical to support bad consumer practices. You're really closed off about why you picked DRM, refuse to listen to people complaining about DRM because some silent majority aren't talking and then lock threads and ask people to just stop talking about it. Now the game is delayed by a month after declaring that you're going to use DRM. Obviously its being delayed because of DRM.
What a waste of a good game.

I'll flat out state again (as I did i another thread) that DRM has nothing to do with the launch date change. <removed the offending part of my (Admins) posting>

Lets just address the first part then.

No, I have not "asked multiple times for a solution that allows you to use DRM without using a third party". Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else here?

If you, or anyone else, has a better idea for some reasonable security that is not (a) the perpetual honor system, (b) does not include a 3rd party (which can create complications), (c) can at least counter various casual piracy, and (d) that everyone can agree on.. we are all ears. We are open to suggestions.. IF.. those 4 categories can be reasonably met. That is the quote I was going off.
EDIT: Warship said it. You've indicating NWS gaming store

Yes, that was Christopher Dean, not me. By 'third party' I am sure he meant hosting the game on Steam or GOG or the like, not a 'third party DRM system' that *we* would be implementing. So thats not the same thing, but I can understand your confusion.

I've deleted the sentences in question warspite , as I realized that possibly the poster may not have seen the thread where I stated that the delay had nothing to do with the protection wrapper. If that is true (& I cant be sure or not) then he did not technically call anyone a liar (i.e. he was posting his opinion), if so then I was wrong to call him out for it and apologize for my assumption. Its been a long week as someone pointed out earlier...

To windyruler,
WM is correct.. I was referring to an outside 3rd party service completely hosting our production and handling all measures of security. That was simply not an option for our productions for a variety of reasons.
Sorry if that caused some confusion.
Thanks
