so i noticed something with the demo mainly the fact that there seems to be a hard limit to tech trees
even if i have with files maxed out every single research tree there are still some things which are basically impossible to do (such as make a medium or divebomber) and also the fact that gun performance seems REALLY bad and also rate of fire for guns is REALLY low
multiple other things as well but i wont go too much into it
is there a hardcap to research in the demo even if you edit the files ?
also armor seems to weight about 35% more than it should (we are unable to create yamato because armor is too heavy)

You can't seem to research purpose built CVLs either despite them being only 1920 tech per the game files. Or get CV conversion tech.
In any case there's a statement in the "Torpedos" thread by Miller that seems to indicate the demo is set to certain tech. I've only ever seen few techs (something about hull and machinery weight savings) actually get researched in course of the demo.

The demo is limited to the techs up to 1925. It wasn't possible to build the Yamato in 1925.

Ah, yes, here we go with the rate of fire again.

We don't support editing the files in the demo, sorry.

Yeah, at this point, we should be seeing large conversions like the Courageous class (If 27.5k tonnes and 48 Aircraft qualify as large) and prose built CVLs like the Hosho or Hermes

The demo is limited to the techs up to 1925. It wasn't possible to build the Yamato in 1925. Well, the Japanese actually had an experimental 48 cm/45 cal. weapon built aka 18.9 inch gun about 1915. So all it would have taken was to build the hull with enough beam to accept possibly a dual turreted super firing ship. She could have had about six to eight of those guns. Now the issue is power. Was there enough turbine power available to drive her? The Nagato's had 16 inch guns and a speed of 26 knots with four geared steam turbines so my guess is, it was possible. They were launched in 1920. The British had a similar gun in the 1920-1922 time period.

N class designed by British has similar firepower, slightly inferior armour protection except turret face armour with much lower speed. So these ships were feasible.

Yes so the key is a naval arms treaty that would prevent the building of such ships or restrict total tonnage. If the ship was about 55,000 tons with six 18.9 inch guns, 16 belt armor with engines of around 85,000 HP. and speed of 24 knots, a limitation on total tonnage could eliminate this size ship unless you just wanted to build one battleship with many supporting large cruisers. if we assume the 5:5:3 treaty ratios with 315,000 tons for Japan, then she could have built some of these ships and upgraded any others that she had or just scrap all the other battleships and build about 6 of these ships.
