Lots of specific-issue threads around but couldn't find a general one (apologies if I've been blinder than a cruiser in a night encounter in a pea-soup fog) but just wanted to post that I'm really enjoying RtW2 Not the most surprising thing that's happened to me this year, but even starting in 1900 through to 1908 (all I've had time for so far, danged real life and all that) and I'm really enjoying the quality-of-life touches that make playing the RtW1 timeline better. Things like large amounts of base-building in particular areas creating tension, the 'one pop-up for all commerce warfare' and 'one pop-up even if you commission eight destroyers at once', a more pleasant green colour to the land, that kind of thing. Also really like the 'designing ships doesn't happen instantly' as well - super-cool . Looking forward to playing a heap more - great work Fredrik/Team NWS/all the beta testers, thanks muchly .

I really do like the more traditional approach this sequel has taken, as well. Take what was good about the first game, and make it a better and more sophisticated and polished version of that. Not to mention the great increase in content, it's still got that familiar touch of what made RtW 1 awesome running through its core. They haven't tried to streamline it or whatever to appeal to a "wider audience" ( a road too many are going down), instead they've made it better for folks who liked RtW 1 in the first place.
I've only encountered one game-breaking issue, and that has a workaround thanks to the help of others on the forum. For a 1.0, I'm happy, and I know bugs are going to be rounded up and squashed in the coming weeks, which is great. I also like how adaptive the team is to the players, for example the last-minute switch to an infinite transfer license. It's really nice and old school, which is a good thing.

I agree. The only thing I can't seem to get the hang of is aircraft production and getting solicitations out for aircraft designs. My research appears to support like flying boat or seaplane scout production and I was able to build a land airbase, but cannot seem to get the program to allow me to solicit for aircraft prototypes. Otherwise, it's been great in the 1900-1920 period.

Glad you made a thread like this. I've been having a blast in rtwII so far. I havent even gotten halfway through my first game, and i think its the best game of rtw I've had yet lol.
There's been a couple bugs, but nothing too bad. Like you said, even early game has a lot of QOL improvments. and I've been massively enjoying dinking around with my CVL's and seaplanes.
THe length thus far feels a lot more natural too. im in '26 atm, and its like... 'oh yeah, I'm only halfway through!' To me rtw1 always felt like it ended right as you were really getting into it, so its perfect to have it be double the length

I am having a blast too. Overall the game feels "slower", two full days into my first game and I am only at 1930, not even seeing DB's adn radar yet. This is a good thing. Now, if I could keep myself from modding/cheating...

Now, if I could keep myself from modding/cheating... Does it feel like there's more war to you? Cause that was one of the big things slowing down my game. Not in a bad way. I think I went to war with france eight times between 1900 and 1927. and war with germany once. I also managed to get alliances and tech trading a lot more.

Not as much "more war", though there seems a bit of that but the major effect is rather from "more war in war", i.e. more and longer battles during wars.

Thats a fair enough assessment. There's also the fact that there's a lot more to think about. Especially with ship design, when new techs are going to pop up, etc etc.

Only half way through my first campaign but I'm very much enjoying the experience. It helps that it started off very differently than it normally would.
Allow me to set the stage...Japan 1900, large fleet, 100% research, and build-a-legacy-fleet active. I ordered a quartet of Bs from the Brits and then proceeded with my builds and orders as usual...failing to check how the AI was building their fleets in my excitement.
First turn hits and I check the fleet lists. Surprised to see I'm tied for first for the number of battleships in service along with Britian. Italy is in second place with 3 tiny coastal defense battleships. No one else has a single B in service! They're all building some but none are ready yet. Instead they all built large numbers of ACs...and I only have 3. Interesting but not huge.
Then 1901 rolls around and an arms treaty comes up. Click agree cause why not? Could be interesting. It goes through and everyone is limited to 12k tons and 8" guns. Only Germany has managed to complete a B since the start.
The others manage to avoid a war with me until the full five year treaty is up despite me trying to start one. The moment the treaty ends everyone starts building BBs and BCs so I'm back to square one with next to nothing to show for it. At least I'm able to make use of two of my pre-dreds when I get CVL conversions.

Aye, it's good fun. The specific missions around invasions are a great touch. It's great to have that little bit more context to an engagement.
Also another point, I played RTW1 a lot and in it, and now in this game too, I am alt tabbing all over the place; opening the game, minimising it etc etc. It's never crashed on me once. That's pretty remarkable in and of itself!
