Let me start with some backstory. I started my career in 1900 as Germany with a legacy fleet. About 1 year into the game I decided to build a new generation of BCs which were a bit bigger and faster, called the Wörth class. After a few years I send the ships to West Africa to protect the colonies and maybe assist in a few invasions. Then in 1925 I made 8 new Battle Cruisers to fill that role and swapped the two Wörth class ships with the new ones. A few moths later I ended up at war with Great Britain. And with the two Wörth class ships still in the Active Fleet they were send out into the Channel, fighting modern British Battle Cruisers. Both got flash fired quite quickly and sank. (Don't worry, the veterans of the Kaiserliche Marine were avenged).
Now a few years later in a battle in the Baltic Sea I see a ship called Von der Tann. Which I clearly remember having sunk with her sister Wörth about 10 years ago. I also know that I named no other ship that way. As besides the 8 new colonial Battle Cruisers, my other big ships were called Bismarck, Tirpitz and then the H classes. After the battle I checked my fleet, and there she was. Wörth-class Battle Cruiser Von der Tann, designed in 1901 and refitted in 1904. It was like 1940 at this point.
So yeah... She came back from the depths of the Channel to fight for the Kaiser and the Fatherland once more.
TL;DR: My 1901 BC resurfaced after having been at the bottom of the ocean for 10 years.

Can we have a checkbox in addition to "varied tech", something like "easter egg mode". Where stuff like this happens from time to time.

I already see the "Halloween Edition" before my eyes. "23:59 BC Irresistible got boarded by L Longship (Erik the Red)" "02:16 CV Ionlyhadmoneyforthissingleone: Hit! (Giant squid, tentacles) speed reduced due to heavy flooding and the additional giant squid" "16:24 DD Alpacasarefantasticanimals turned around to look for mascot cat jumped overboard" "23:40 BB Electricfailure: Collision! (RMS Titanic)"

Seems logical. I mean she might have been sunk in shallow water with only relatively minor damage (other than a gaping hole in its side) then later, raised and rebuilt.

Put in a special pirate faction that collects abandon/flooded ships or maybe put a option in to raise ships that have been grounded in shallows but give a limited time to be able to do that because things like tides aren't friendly to grounded ships
