So I'm playing Germany, it's 1905 and I've whipped France so hard they went commie. I need to know what territories to take. I'm planning this game to be an overseas empire Germany. I could secure my route to my pacific territories through the indian ocean, I could Secure a very strong foothold in the west pacific via indochina, or I could expand the reach of my empire greatly taking most of the south pacific islands. Speak people! Give me your wisdom!
Also feel free to use this thread to post your own fun peace deals! What crazy places have you taken from your opponents, early game, late game, deliberately, or because you had extra points?

I suggest to take territories through the way to Pacific to be able send ships through zones with bases.

That seems to be the common thought, but I do already have a foothold in the indian ocean in the form of Tanganyika, which I've improved to the point of having no problems with base capacity. I should have been clearer on that securing Madagascar and Djibouti just unanimizes my hold over the region

Secure your route to your holdings.
West Africa => Southern Africa => Indian Ocean => Southeast Asia
Or if possible against UK, take the cheap Falklands to be able to go the other way.

While I love your enthusiasm, I don't think I'm ready for war with the preeminent naval power in the world. The Current peace deal that I'm asking for suggestions on is with France alone. I have a relatively secure west africa and south africa, and I have competent bases already in the indian ocean, but I could monopolize it with Madagascar and Djibouti.

A monopoly for you means that the French have a problem reaching the far east in the next war ;-).

That's quite forward thinking, and I've considered that, but France appears to have no interest in their colonies, as over the two and a half years this war was fought, we had one battle that wasn't in the north sea or bay of biscay, and it was in the Indian ocean. I expect future wars with france to be also contained entirely to the northern Europe Front.

If you are confident to be stronger than they are in the pacific, you could pick a colony in the center of their indochina holdings, so that your invasion range includes their other indochina colonies...

You, sir, are very convinced that the next war I fight will be once again against France. As a man with a global fleet, I have a few other future scenarios I must consider.

You are germany, war with france is just a question of when, not if.
Also Kwang-Chou-Wan is cheap for 2 points and brings a lot of regions into future invasion range.

Alright! After careful consultation with a close friend and historian pal, and after listening to everyone's votes, I have decided that the option I must go with is Securing the Indian Ocean, with a few pacific territories on the side. I now open this thread up to anyone else who has concerns about what they should take in a war and who wants advice!
I understand that my decision was contrary to the results of the poll, but I was also asking around a lot outside of the forum. If it's any consolation to the Indochina voters, I could only take 2/3 of Indochina, not all of it. And who wants only a part of vietnam, right?

my only real advice is that if you want to minmax you should take no territories since you instead get a much larger boost to your national resources and thus budget, tho its a bit gamey to play like that i suppose

And it will only get bigger.
