Or is this a bug?
I had my AV with no weapons other than AA guns drawn into a fight with a sole CL. Once contact with the enemy was made, I turned tail and ran, but it slowly gained on me. I equipped my 16 floatplanes with heavy bombs and set to N Strike and readied them. I had thought this might make the humor thread. I tried to set target for the strike to the CL, but there wasnt anything there to set. So I manually clicked on an area of ocean near it and launched the strike. I was amused as my seaplanes catapulted off the deck of my AV and headed toward the CL. What a shock it was in for.
Rather, I was shocked as my planes flew right over it and did nothing. I started getting blue flags for enemy ship spotted coordinated for strike target, but they never worked. The planes would fly off somewhere and circle around stupidly. I then manually set the target near where the CL would be and again my planes would fly over and hover... doing nothing... until the CL sank my AV. Kinda sucks. Woulda made for a good laugh.

First of all make sure your current floatplane models can actually equip bombs. Early ones cannot. Also the strike type likes to reset to recon when you select the wing to launch, so it's possible it reverted and you didn't notice.

Nope and nope. It was all good. They wouldnt bomb. Edit, its a 1947 floatplane scout with a heavy bomb of 1000lbs. Edit: Non-related pic:

The only thing, other than a bug, that I could think of was if it took place at night and the floatplanes weren't able to make an attack due to darkness, BUT the scout spotting mechanic works on a different set of rules that does let them see it. But that itself would be a bug.
