1900 Start, USA, Very Large Fleets, Historical.
Date: July 1st, 1930
Location: Baltic Sea
Type: "Battleship Engagement." (Admirals Mode)
I am allied with Russia. I control 2x 28,000 ton Saratoga CVs (65 aircraft), the BB Illinois 38,300 ton (9x16 guns), and the BC Lexington 45,000 ton (9x16 guns).
My allies, the Russians, bring 4x BB (they are crap, 13" guns at best, very outdated). We also have a bunch of DD's and a few CL's (by this time in the game very few CAs exist). (I only control the CVs, the BB, and the BC.)
Because we are fighting right outside German home ports I am heavily outnumbered. They have 10+ BB/BC and a CVL (17 aircraft).
I launch searches from the CV's, but before their planes can even get off the deck my BB/BC squadron (with 2 attached Russian BBs) detects an unknown ship I head for it and find 4 German BB/BC's. I set to attack only to find that right behind it is another large group of German BB/BC's. I immediately start readying strikes on my carries as my battleship squadron tried to retreat. (My CVs were only 50nm from this battle).
The battle quickly goes bad as 3 of the outdated Russian BBs are quickly immobilized. Out numbered my BB/BC can't keep up. The battle looks completely lost then comes my the air attacks. At this time I only have torpedo squadrons, no dive bombers, and I wondered how good my 1927-28 aircraft could do. Since it was only late 1920's he did not have much AA and I sat and watched as German Battleship after Battleship took torpedo hit after torpedo hit.
In the end my BB/BC were sunk as the Russian BB's were of no help. They, my BB/BC, could do little. However, 3 waves of air attacks wrecked German navy. I sank 6 German BB's and wrecked 2 others (all due to CV Torpedo Bombers). The Russians lost a lot, but the only thing I suffered, other than the loss of my BB and BC was the CV Saratoga got hit by a single torpedo from an air attack from the German CVL (I could never find the thing).
