I've seen it mentioned a couple of times, but I do shipbucket style work and I thought i'd create a thread for some of the RTW inspired ones! First up is a 1905 japanese pre-dread with 4 x 13", 10 x 8" and 20 x 3" guns.

How long does it take to do something like that in Shipbucket? Its very cool, but even when I was doing side profiles I chaffed at spending even 10 minutes at it.

I started that one last night, finished it this afternoon. Maybe a couple of hours? But I think most of that speed is experience to be honest. And knowing when to use references.

Shipbucket is not a program you draw in, it is set of drawing rules allowing creation of standardised drawings. One of the greatest powers is ability to use pieces made bay other users to help you draw. In fact, you can go anywhere from drawing completely on your own to a complete kitbash using parts of other designs, not unlike the way side profiles are made in game.
As hmssophia mentioned, making a picture will take a few hours. More if you want to draw everything on your own.

Well and then theres me, a complete failure when it comes to visual arts (a.k.a. I suck at everything that relates to drawing or painting), who for a moment hoped there would be a program with ready parts to use.

Oooooh, shiny. I am suitably impressed :3 is there a story behind the yashima class? Gottasay that my b's tend not to have illustrious careers.
As for shipbucket, i first went and looked at it last night. It seems pretty interesting, though it also had me confused for a while. It wasnt until i reached the style guide that i finally really understood what i was looking at.
I'd be interested in trying it myself, though im not sure how much skill i would have in it. Is their any tutorials you happen to recomend? Or would it be smarter to just get right into the thick of it? Anyway, keep them coming. Because having art for your rtw fleet is ridiculusly cool :3

Another new drawing, this time for tortugapower and his LP of Germany! The Wapen von Hamburg's were instrumental in the Guam campaign in the war between the US and Germany, extending German control of the Pacific. No story yet, they're pretty new designs and we're awaiting a war. As for tutorials, just launch yourself into it. Maybe do a restyled version of an existing ship?

This is some truly outstanding work. I'm scared to ask how many such drawings you have done in the past, if these took you just a few hours.
I certainly wish I had it in me to learn to draw like that.

I certainly wish I had it in me to learn to draw like that. Quite a few, especially recently. I do a lot of aircraft and space craft in different scales as well. Speaking of which, here's another from the tortugapower games:

New ships, both of them Heroes of Jutland (a special award created to recognise a specific ship of the class). Thanks to tortugapower for the inspiration on these two. First is the refitted Wapen von Hamburg class, fitted with six secondary turrets. The Schleswig-Holstein sank two British ships through flash fires at Jutland. Next is the S-60, a torpedo boat which penetrated the British fleets lines alone and fired her two torpedoes into the path of enemy ships. Her actions are noted for the initial breaking of British lines which allowed the later destruction of most of the fleet.

A new drawing today, another from tortugapower and another smaller one. Successor to the Gluckstadt, the Bockenheim carries 6 above-water tube and two 4" guns. She's a big girl.

(I also accept commissions if you'd like a pretty drawing of a particularly infamous ship from your playthrough). So wait, is the commissions thing free commissions or paid commissions?
