I may have missed this in the manual but is there a way to see the extent of land based air coverage (in either the strategic map or arguably more importantly the battle screen?) or is it so large as to cover everywhere?
It feels like a real admiral of the period would have had access to the intelligence services best guess at the locations of enemy airfields and the range of their aircraft, even if somewhat inaccurate. Admittedly I have mostly played as Italy so far and just assumes total coverage in the Med and planned accordingly, its more for immersion, but I'm starting to experiemnt with Northern European and colonial powers.
Secondly - this is a very minor gripe so I'm parking it here as not worth its own thread - I had secretly hoped that the second game would add the island from which I'm writing this to the map... Neither game has it and loads of smaller less populous islands made the cut; there was even a Royal Navy Airbase and Airship station on it for a while. Makes the map look really odd to me. Oh well.. Love the game! great work.

i don't think there is the option to have air range circles, the best option i found was turning on the invasion range circles and using that as a rough guide

It would be a great addition. That and more airbases. It seems like with base size restrictions, it isn't hard to have more carrier aircraft than land-based in some areas. Although I can't say I know typical airbase size or density in WW2, there were thousands of aircraft involved in Big Week and Pointblank.

I think the easiest way to figure that out would be to get the aircraft info from either espionage or war events. If you're lucky you'll get a range estimate, or just use your own models as a baseline. At that point you can use the in-game distance measurements (or even just Google maps or something) to figure out if those aircraft can reach out to you.

During a battle you can double click on an area to set a marker, move the cursor elsewhere and the bottom of the screen will show the distance in nautical miles(1knot=1nautical mph)

Ok, curiosity demands- which island would this be? :] I think my first guess is proven wrong by your dedication to the Italian fleet.

Thanks. -I've had a play with the distance measuring, just it seemed like an obvious thing to be missing - range circles or something. Not a game breaker but I might go and suggest it.. garrisonchisholm - Ynys Mon (Anglesey). (Nowhere exciting with nice weather like Italy, I just fancied starting the game off small). Its sadly the first thing ! checked when the demo came out! oh well. Apart from feeling left out it just makes the whole shape of the coastline look really wierd without it. I do want to know what you'd guessed though?

Given the Royal Air stations I would have guessed the Shetlands, which I think are not so accurate as you'd wish to use the RTW map to plan an auto route. I should know Ynys Mon, I have had an unusual fancy for Caernarvon (the Castle and Team) for quite a while.

By lategame in the Mediterranean you can't turn around without bumping into an aircraft.

Perhaps make the circles have a range dropdown. Default to the invasion range, perhaps, but also have an option for each class of plane in active land-based service. (Or, simpler yet for the user, just add aircraft range circles as an option, and show us the ranges of the actual planes based on each base)
