 1900 start, design is an auto-designed French CL, lightened to 2100 tons by lightening some armour. However, it can't be built as the designer is identifying it as a DD. Trying to build it as a 1900 DD obviously, (correctly) returns a bunch of errors. |

I have a similar problem where my 5100 ton 5-inch gun, 3.5-inch belt CL is recognized as CA.
But I can save and build it as CA although the designer reports error.

I've had a similar problem -- refitting a 2100t CL in 1948. If I mount a catapult for my floatplane it wants to reclassify the CL as a DD and will not allow it to go on as a CL. I can't carry on with the design as a DD either.

I've also tried to build floatplane based scout CLs, but if you go over four planes it gets classified as AV.
Maybe there could be a maximum armament for AV classification?

I had this as well while trying to build a minimalist raider CL. Sometimes, the game tells you explicitly what's wrong with a design and why it doesn't like it. Sometimes, it doesn't. I can't figure out why some small CLs are being classed as DDs, especially when it's long before I'd be able to build DDs of that size.
