Has anybody ever managed to invade British Columbia, because I have never been able to in any US campaign I’ve played so far despite massive superiority, closest I’ve gotten is having invasion battles be declined(which in the case of British Columbia apparently doesn’t mean a successful invasion but just nothing)

no invading force can make any progress once there is a traffic jam on lions gate bridge xD
In more serious note, it can take a bit of luck, but constant winning of subsequent battle in the region can help

Guess I’m just getting screwed by the constant Coastal raid battles where my ships can’t/won’t fire on the land target

I've had the same problem with Sicily, despite whipping out from existence every Italian ship that touched the water. If you control the area for three or four months, invasions should be guaranteed.

For invading islands, yeah, but I'm not sure that should be the case for possessions that can be invaded and reinforced overland, like BC. American troops entering BC would almost certainly come over the land border rather than making an amphibious assault, and there's a fair likelihood that most of the fighting would occur well inland.

British Columbia's point value is 12. In RTW1 I thought you couldn't invade any territory whose point value exceeded 10. Has that changed in RTW2? I couldn't find anything in the manual.

The only possibly related thing I know is that you can get 12 VP of territory in a peace deal now. If the max number is the same for invasions (I somehow think it is), then you can now invade BC.

I haven't tried, but I will say that if a territory can't be invaded, it shouldn't be eligible as an invasion target. That's a lot of money being spent for no good cause if invasion is impossible.

Maybe we can ask for a section in the RtW manual about the details here...

I haven't clicked on every one but so far the only territories I've found worth more than that is India (40) and South Africa (25). That's a big deal. alsadius , I'm sure that was not intended. If 20 is the max points you can take in a peace treaty it is probably the same limit for invasions. Barring developer confirmation, one way to check would be to try to invade either South Africa or India. If it lets you do the preps for those two territories but the invasion doesn't fire then there may be a bug. Or just as likely one of our assumptions is wrong.

Well that's a new one on Me. The biggest I have seen in testing- and I guarantee I've seen 3-400 peace deals - is a 12 point deal.
If 20 points is possible, it has either been added EXTREMELY recently without accolade or is a 3-sigma chance.

I also saw a 20 point deal in my American game. I had a rather silly number of VP because Japan did NOT want to surrender, but it happened in the end.
[Edit - That game I also tried to invade BC, but no joy. The Brits had very few ships and I had something like 15 BBs, and 8 CVs in the zone.]

For the record, Fredrik indicates that getting 20 points in a peace deal is not a bug but should happen very rarely.

The fact that you've seen a 12 point deal means that things have changed since RTW1 without accolade. I never saw anything more than 10 in RTW1.
