My computer uses an SSD ("C:") for the system, a handful of softwares and - thank God - my documents; and a HDD for just about everything else - well, or so it was until yesterday, when my HDD decided to commit suicide. Unfortunately, as I thought that the game won't require the speed of the SSD, I installed it to my hard disk drive. That, including the saves and some other stuff of mine dove into the abyss. Lovely. Oh well, I thought, I'll simply download the game again and reinstall it to my SSD, won't eat up too much space. Here's the issue:
I don't know, why, but for some reason it seems like the game is trying to install itself onto my old HDD maybe? Problem is, the PC does not recognize the HDD anymore, as it encountered a complete failure, and at this point of the installer there is no option to actually select a drive. Or maybe it can't write on the SSD?

I suspect that since the game was not properly uninstalled, the installer is reading the install path from the registry, and since that drive does not exist you may get that error.
Try to uninstall RTW2 using the 'add/remove' programs, and then reinstall it.
If you cannot uninstall it, or the above does not fix the issue, look for the following registry entry and delete it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{897ED062-045E-4FC2-8E1A-2BFB967482C6}_is1
"897ED062-045E-4FC2-8E1A-2BFB967482C6" is the app ID for RTW2, if your location differs a reg search will turn up the reg key location, which you can then delete.
You should then be able to reinstall the game w/o that happening.

You should then be able to reinstall the game w/o that happening. While the "Add/remove programs" returned with an error, as it couldn't find the HDD, deleting the registry entry did help - thank you for your time and help!
