I could have sworn I was able to do this earlier, but I can't figure out how one scraps airship bases.

Go to the Coastal Fortifications tab, find the airship base you want to scrap in the list, right-click on it, and choose Scrap.

Gentlemen: I am still working my way through the manual. Ich. I've been reading aircraft manuals for 34 years, and I am reluctant. Here is a question. Can you build and designate a base as a forward air base or emergency airbase? Can you simply abandon an airbase and consider it a forward or emergency airbase? This was done by all sides in the war and was a regular addition to air warfare strategy. Thanks and I will get back to reading the manual. Maybe....

You can build an airbase and not station any aircraft there or withdraw all the squadrons to reserve in between wars if that is you mean?

You can build an airbase and not station any aircraft there or withdraw all the squadrons to reserve in between wars if that is you mean? Well, that's close but Germany, Japan, and all the nations with land and naval based aircraft had forward airbases that were nothing but grass or dirt runways. They might store fuel drums underground and put a few maintenance personnel on it for emergencies but it was not a regular airbase. In fact, during the Battle of Britain, the RAF had dispersal bases all over the country near the coast for just that purpose.

Airpower is modeled abstractly enough that there's no real need for it. You can always just make an empty 20-plane base if you like.
