1.05b Playing Japan, just concluded a war with the UK and I was 800,000,000 in debt and restructuring my fleet to see if I could get out of debt before having my admiral replaced. I didn't have much of a choice because I was trying to economically compete with the UK, and you just can't do that with Japan, but I won the war, but at a steep economical cost.
(Shouldn't I have had unrest levels due to debt? I didn't. I think I should. Maybe that's a bug or a design choice that needs changing. Extreme debt like I had should have had consequences, and it did not.) That's not the bug, tho.
Anyway, seeing that it was 1936 and I didn't have a Dive Bomber, I bought one from my ally, the USA and noticed the next turn all my debt was gone!
The only thing I can think of that I did that was unusual was buying the Dive Bomber from the USA. It must've wiped out my debt. That's a crazy expensive bug!
I'll try repeating it later when in debt and I'll buy an ally plane to see if my debt gets wiped again.
Edit: I noticed that after I bought the Dive Bomber, I still couldnt request a proposal for a DB despite having one. That seems odd to me.
Edit 2: In 1941 after concluding a peace, I was again in debt to the tune of 300 million and upon buying a Fighter from France, an ally, I noticed I was still in debt. I thought perhaps I would never be able to repeat the bug, but then after selecting several tabs and different menus, the debt was changed to 0. Just like last time. So buying a plane wipes your debt.
