I've just had creepy thing with game. I've played campaign at the beginning of 1950th, but then suddenly old and surely resolved in 1.05 bug (S\T catapults unbalanced) appeared again. Then in battle I saw, that torpedoes became unlimited again. And finally I understood, that I'm playing in 1.04 version, though I'm absolutely sure, that I patched game to 1.05b! I needed to patch it one more time, now I have 1.05b again. But I can't understand, what happened. Was it some kind of game installer bug? Or it was my failure? (I had emergency shutdown of notebook due to low energy t the end of long battle)
BTW, patch installer work... strangely itself. Some of my files (Japanese ship names, BNat1900) cause "unknown file version" error due to minor fine tuning (added Elpidifor bonus tech to Russia and some names to Japan) so I should replace them by files from demo. Against all odds, customization replacement of nearly whole Russian shipnames file was accepted.

If you have two copies of the game installed that might be an issue, you may be pointing to one copy to play but updating another?

I have copy of game for backup files, but it's folder name is different, and I have all progress I made after "first" update saved, when this happen (including serial cruisers with S/T catapults, which gave me first signal of something went wrong, as I suddenly find myself unable to rebuild previously legal ships).

gornik Other than two separate copies I have no idea...there is absolutely no functionality in either the installer or the game itself to somehow 'roll back' to an earlier release, so unless Windows did some really funky stuff to you I am not sure what you experienced.

I wonder this too If I find any more info, I'll report it here. I want remind you that Windows 10 upgrade 1903 has had some issues. You can find those issues on the Microsoft web site. I don't know if this is the problem, but I've checked the register and there are few references to RTW2 so I don't believe that it is in the registry. It might be problem with the version of the DLL file but I haven't gone after the version number. I don't know if the upgrades change the DLL file, I seriously doubt it.

I use Win8 Ok, that was the question I was going to ask. Keep in mind, that the programmer may have programmed the game for Windows 10, not Windows 8. But I suspect the team would test on Windows 8 to be certain that it would work. Also, if you can't duplicate a failure, you can't fix it. I learned that about 40 years ago when I started aircraft electronics training. If it happens again, you will have to try to gather as much data as possible. Good Luck.
