I think I've got a snapshot of the problematic "support" behavior for carrier divisions. Plus, I'm in a state where my CV haven't launched any CAP on the 2nd day of battle. 1.0.5b, France at war with GB.
Mission is raid on coastal shipping. I have 2 BC, plus 2 divisions of CV (1 with 3x, 1 with 1x) all in same force (even though I've got "carrier force"). I put the CV on support. Mission started just before dusk, so no time to launch any strikes of note. At night I moved towards the objective, which was a mistake, because an AI BC force cut in between me and my CV. This wouldn't have been a huge problem if they had run away, but they were pinned to the N against the S coast of England (to the west of the little bay they're stuck in now) and the 1x division decided to play lemming by charging towards my BC force (and the enemy ships) east along the coast. I tried setting orders to independent, core, pretty much everything and nothing worked (I didn't try saving, exiting, and restarting - hmmmm) - that division ran around the point into the bay.
I killed the BC, then headed my BC to the west to try and suck the 1x division out - eventually by setting it to "core" I convinced it to follow my BC and it escaped. Unfortunately, the 3x division decided to follow the route to the east, and ended up in the bay (all of this at night). Again, I've tried everything to call it back; nothing works. It's now daytime and two things are going on:
1) No CAP is flying. I've been flipping between core and support and ind, so maybe the BCs should have CAP, but the CV should have something in the air. Note that I prepped and launched a predawn strike (but left lots of F on board), so maybe that confused it. I just increased cap from medium to high a few clicks ago; still nothing.
2) The "support" division of 3xCV is headed downwind on a parallel course to my BC. This doesn't seem right, so I'm hoping this save will give you info on a some of the weird AI states.
[EDIT] Saving and restoring seems to have cleared both problems, so the save might do you much good. I did 1 time click after restore and didn't see any CAP readying, but 10-15 minutes later it was in process.
