Greetings to the Dev Team! I am playing as Japan from 1900, and have played two entire games without this issue cropping up, but in my latest game I encountered a bug that softlocks my game. My settings were: Very Large fleet and manual build of Legacy ships for the record.
During the final stages of the regular game (1949 in my playthru), I was building a Heavy Cruiser when the bug appeared. The conditions are as such:
1. Create a CA or CL
2. Make the displacement EXACTLY 5900 tons
3. Set it to EXACTLY 39 knots
What I discovered was that the HP requirements for a cruiser with 38 knots speed was ludicrous (131,148), but at 39 knots the game decided that 13,385 (yes, five digits) was enough. Feeling very clever, I designed a fleet of 5900t, 39 knot, 10-inch gun armed CAs, and the game actually let me build them (No Illegal Speed/Displacement Notice here).
However, on the turn that they were supposed to be commissioned, a message saying "Error: illegal Speed/Displacement Combination!" popped up. No matter which button I clicked (the x at the top-right corner or the "OK" Button), the message box kept popping up, and with no way to click any other buttons beside the two (it is not possible to click the "Close Window" button while the message boxes are active, either at the top-right corner of the monitor or via the toolbar at the bottom), my game was softlocked.
I ended up having to open my task manager and force stop the programme. I reentered the game and scrapped all the ships, and for one or two turns the game worked fine, but after a while (with no more Bugships, as I call them, under construction or in service by me) the message popped back up again, for no apparent reason, again softlocking my game. My guess is that one of the AIs copied my design and tried to commission it, but I don't know for sure. As it stands, my game is nigh-unplayable with the Error box popping up every turn or so. Can you please help me with this?
