I've been wondering how realistic the costs of repairing ships are. The example that got me thinking was a 10600 ton B which surprised me by surviving 90+% damage. Repairs took 2 months and increased maintenance costs from 252 to 336. This means they cost 84 each month or 168 in total, which is 0.45% of the factory price of 37000 (1.8% if you count the entire maintenance cost for the time it's out of order). I find that quite surprising and would have expected at least 10 or 20% of the original price to restore a crippled hulk to pristine condition. Wasn't it somewhat common to scrap older ships that got heavily damaged even when they weren't exactly obsolete yet? Would it be good to force this decision onto players and the AI by drastically increasing repair costs and perhaps even reducing stats and increasing maintenance costs of heavily damaged ships until they undergo a proper rebuild?
